About us About us Carers in Southampton is a project within Southampton Mencap. The service launched in September 2014 and was created to empower unpaid carers through access to information, advice, support and learning opportunities to enhance their choice, control and independence. Who can use the service? Anyone who gives up their time, unpaid, to look after a family member, friend, or neighbour. Either you or the person you care for must be a resident of the City of Southampton as the service is funded by Southampton City Council.
