Helping shape Southampton’s Carers' Strategy 2021-2026

Caring for a family member or friend, unpaid, is a vital, valuable and important contribution to the delivery of adult social care and health services.  You are the expert in care for those you look after, and we are asking you to help plan the new Carers Strategy (2021-2026) which aims to:

  • adapt local services to support carers in their caring role;
  • help adult carers live a life outside of caring; and
  • support young carers not to spend so much time caring that they can’t live a child’s life.

It is important that decisions about how to improve support for unpaid carers across the city are shaped by and for carers. So, whatever your age, background, experience or caring role your help is valuable.

New plans for the city's carers

Carers in Southampton, No Limits, Southampton City Council and the Southampton Clinical Commissioning Group have consulted carers and organisations across the city to help make new plans.  It is important that anyone providing unpaid care has a chance to see those plans and comment on them so you are invited to to come along to some events in October and add your voice.  All the details are on the poster below.  If you are unable to attend any of the meetings then you can share your views to Carers in Southampton via email to [email protected] or via phone to 023 8058 2387 or respond anonymously via this Google form here.
