The National Trading Standards Scams Team are now offering to install free call blockers to anyone living with dementia or in vulnerable circumstances and receiving nuisance and scam calls. People living with dementia or in difficult circumstances are at greater risk of falling victim to telephone fraudsters. They may also be more at risk of a fall when going to answer a call.

For information on how the call blocker works and to make an application, please see

https://www.friendsagainstscams.org.uk/callblocker

These call blockers have been described as ‘life-changing’ and can also give peace of mind to families and carers. They have been tested by Southampton City Council  Careline Service and found not to interfere with their alarm buttons.

We are also encouraging people to sign up to Friends Against Scams site to help spread the word on how to spot when someone is being financially abused by a scammer.
