News News Hospital Disability Lanyards Carers who have recently requested lanyards from UHS experiencing postal delivery delays We have heard from some carers recently that they are worried they haven't received their lanyards from UHS. The hospital team have confirmed that this is due to slow mail deliveries. They have provided the guidance below for those still awaiting their lanyards. However, please note that you can also request identical sunflower lanyards from other places - it is a universal scheme that you can use wherever it is recognised! See here. Guidance If a carer needs to attend UHS with their client/ patient and their lanyard has not arrived then they are also welcome to call the hub and check if it has been posted out or not. If it hasn’t been posted out yet then we will be able to arrange for it to be handed to them directly outside of Southampton General Hospital main entrance when they arrive. They can either make an appointment to collect at a certain date/ time or call again (with prior arrangement so that the lanyard is ready) once they have arrived on site to arrange collection at the hospital main entrance. If the lanyard has been posted, then yes – carers can contact UHS the day before to inform of the patient’s appointment time and location the following day and both of their names – so that UHS can add them to the approved visitors list at a specific entrance e.g. Southampton General Hospital main entrance. For more information or to register for the scheme, please contact the UHS patient support hub using the following details:Telephone: 0800 484 0135Email: [email protected] Please click to view full leaflet here: UHS Lanyard leaflet You may also like to see: Hospital Carers Card UHS at home service UHS Autism patient forum on Facebook Hospital discharge Hospital information for carers Additional information or communication needs when attending hospital Tools for supporting autistic people Being Heard: a guide to self-advocacy for carers Emergency planning Emergency helpline for Southampton residents in crisis Who is exempt from wearing a face mask?
