Due to the recent outbreak of norovirus in the hospital and the ongoing COVID-19 situation, with increasing inpatient numbers and hospital acquired infections,  University Hospital Southampton have taken the difficult decision to temporarily suspend visiting.

We spoke with Laura White, Head of Involvement & Participation at UHS to get advice for carers during this time.

"Carers provide vital support to patients which in turn, supports staff at the critical time.

We'd like to remind all carers to bring along their Carers in Southampton Carer Card, to help identify you. We'd also recommend carers sign up for the UHS Carers Card via the Sunflower Lanyard scheme.

If you're supporting an inpatient, please request with the care team that this is recorded on the cared-for's patient file."
