Nuffield Southampton Theatres team up with Biggin Hill to offer Spitfire flight

Nuffield Southampton Theatres (NST) have partnered with Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar to win a flight in a Spitfire. The generous prize has been donated to help NST celebrate their first birthday in NST City, Southampton’s city centre theatre and to raise income for NST’s Impact Fund which funds projects for local young people and emerging artists.

Laura Eastwood, Director of Development at Nuffield Southampton Theatres said,

“We are really excited to be working with Biggin Hill.  This incredible prize will offer the lucky winner a truly once in a life time opportunity to experience a flight in this iconic plane and is a fabulous addition to our first birthday celebrations for NST City, Southampton’s new city centre venue.”

The Spitfire flight prize also ties into the return of NST’s critically acclaimed smash hit show The Shadow Factory by Howard Brenton which tells the local true story from the Second World War of how Southampton came together to build the Spitfire after the Supermarine factory at Woolston was destroyed in a 1940 bombing raid.  The Shadow Factory, is part of the first birthday celebrations and runs at NST City from 30 Jan - 2 March, 2019.

Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar is located at the historic location of Biggin Hill airfield, a key station in the Battle of Britain.  The organisation has grown from its original purpose to restore a single Spitfire having completed its ninth plane, and now is the greatest concentration of Spitfire activity anywhere in the world.

Nuffield Southampton Theatres will officially celebrate their first birthday of its city centre theatre, NST City, with a giant community birthday party of family activities on 16 February in Guildhall Square.  The First Birthday Party will run from 11.30am – 1.30pm with a street party, with up to 300 people from communities across Southampton taking part in large scale party games.

Tickets for the Spitfire flight raffle are £5 and are available from NST’s Box Office by calling 023 8067 1771 or at The raffle closes on the 29 April and the winner will be drawn on the 30 April 2019.
