JOB ROLE: Specialist Carer Support Worker (Mental Health and Dementia)

CONTRACT: 37.5 hours per week earning £25,461 per annum

LOCATION: Southampton

The ideal candidate will be an experienced individual who has a flexible working approach, enjoys working as part of a team and is an excellent communicator. 

You will join the team at Carers in the Southampton offering a city-wide service to support unpaid carers. The role has a particular focus on carers of people with poor mental health and dementia.

Key Duties;

  • Provide information, advice and guidance relevant to carers, in particular those caring for those with poor mental health or dementia
  • Disseminate relevant information to carers
  • Assist carers to explore how digital advances can contribute to their caring role and in developing their emergency plans
  • Create an atmosphere of trust with organisations working with specific carer groups
  • Work with internal and external colleagues to create a unified organisation working for the general good of all carers in the city 

We are looking for a good communicator with sound experience of partnership working with other agencies and an understanding of the support needs of carers.

You will have:

  • Experience of supporting a diverse client group in a caring situation and a strong empathy with the issues they face.
  • An excellent working knowledge of community-based services and facilities which support carers and their loved ones, particularly those relevant to people with poor mental health or dementia.

Southampton MENCAP – Finance and Admin Manager

Full time (Salary £28k-£30k) per year.

Seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and committed person to fulfil a finance and administration role within this lively local charity based in Portswood, Southampton.

The successful candidate will be qualified and experienced in using Sage accountancy software and the Microsoft Office suite as well as having the capability to create and maintain effective filing and data management systems. Alongside proven skills and experience in personnel and health and safety policies, some experience of the charity and social enterprise world is desirable.  

This role has a broad remit and the right candidate will be highly motivated and curious to learn, with a genuine interest in supporting the organisation to run smoothly and efficiently for the benefit of children and adults with learning disabilities and their families and community of unpaid carers.
