Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) was created by Mary Ellen Copeland - an author, educator and mental health recovery advocate. It's a self-management plan you develop yourself to monitor wellness, measure progress, prepare for times of being less well and times when experiences are uncomfortable and distressing. It also includes details of how an individual would like others to support them at these different times. WRAP uses seven sections. You can be as creative as you like with your plan. It is traditionally in a written format. However, many people choose to develop theirs creatively using computer software or in a scrapbook style.

WRAP isn't just for people who use mental health services. It can be used by anyone who experiences emotional or physical distress, and can be a general aid to well-being in life. The WRAP approach can help you build confidence, analyse and eliminate negative thought patterns, and structure your lifestyle in a way that promotes wellness.

You can attend a WRAP course at The Recovery College run by Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust
